The Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia (CADEK), has announced the death of her oldest priest, the late Msgr Raphael Anasiudu.
Announcing his death while on a pastoral visit at St Vincent’s Catholic Parish, Otikpo-Amesi, Aguata LGA, Anambra State, yesterday, Sunday, July 19, the Catholic Bishop of the diocese, Most Rev Peter Ebere Okpaleke, prayed God to grant the soul of the late priest, who it has pleased Him to call back home, eternal rest.
Bishop Okpaleke noted that while he was on his way to Amesi for the pastoral visit in the morning, he received the news of Msgr Anasiudu’s sickness. He had planned to visit him after the event, but by afternoon of the same Sunday, July 19, 2020, he was informed that the priest had passed on.
He condoled with the bereaved family and Igboukwu Catholic Community over the loss, and saying that the diocese would release the burial announcement in due course.
The late Msgr Anasiudu, who was ordained a Catholic priest for the Old Onitsha Archdiocese on April 25, 1965, hailed from Igboukwu, Aguata LGA, Anambra State.
He had since retired from active service due to old age.
He was the first priest that died in the new Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia.
