St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral adjudged to be the biggest in West Africa dedicated in grandstyle

The Catholic Diocese of Nsukka has dedicated the St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral, Nsukka edifice in grand style.

The dedication of the 5,500 capacity building was graced by the Catholic bishops, governors of southeast Nigeria, Priests, Religious, lay faithful among others on Thursday, November 19, 2020.

The St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral proclaimed to be the biggest in West Africa was started in 1991 by the Most Rev. Francis Okobo, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese, and later completed by the reigning Bishop, Most Rev Godfrey Igwebuike Onah.

Although financial challenges had surfaced in the course of the project, the Diocese designed a system of reaching out to the faithful to support the Diocesan project.

The Faithful and other well-meaning individuals and organizations in the Diocese through their efforts have realized the long-awaited dream and embraced the occasion with joy.

After thirty years of becoming a Diocese, Nsukka can emphatically count of about 197 parishes and continues to grow in the spread of the Catholic faith.
