The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja has issued an appeal for continuous prayers for those who have been consecrated.
Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, the Archbishop of Abuja, has urged Catholics to pray for the spiritual renewal of grace for all consecrated persons in the church.
As the church commemorates the Day of Consecrated Life, the Prelate noted in a Facebook post,
cited by AGNUS-DEI MEDIA, that the day was worth commemorating and that it was prudent that Consecrated persons worldwide be given the necessary spiritual support to enable them to serve in a way that pleased God.
“We continue to pray for spiritual renewal and grace upon all consecrated persons.”
In his jurisdiction, the day was commemorated with a colourful assembly of clergy, religious, and lay faithful.
World Day for Consecrated Life
Pope Saint John Paul II established a day for consecrated women and men in 1997.
The Feast of the Lord’s Presentation falls on February 2nd, which is a worldwide commemoration.
On Candlemas Day, candles are blessed to represent Christ, the Light of the World.
Everyone, including those who live a consecrated life, is called to reflect Jesus Christ’s light.
The World Day for Consecrated Life has been moved to the next Sunday to emphasize the gift of consecrated persons to the entire Church.
