The Faithful of St. Gabriel’s Pastoral Area, Bmuko, Abuja, were in a joyful and celebratory mood as they rolled out their drums to welcome Archbishop of Abuja Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, where 173 candidate received the Sacrament of Confirmation, yesterday (February 17).

In his homily, Archbishop Kaigama expressed his delight at the enormous turnout of parishioners, who he characterized as smartly dressed and full of high spirits, and said it demonstrated their willingness to pay proper homage to African culture.

He emphasized the importance of embracing and respecting their culture and promoting it, stating that in this age of the internet and social media, there is a strong inclination to devalue people’s rich culture.

He also reminded the confirmants to uphold their Catholic ideals and live lives that praise God and Mother Church.
