The Donkorkrom Apostolic Vicariate under the Tutelage of Most Rev Alphonse Asiedu, on Saturday June 13, 2020, held a COVID-19 stakeholder consultation towards the reopening of Catholic churches within the Vicariate with focus on liturgical norms amidst COVID-19 unrest.
The event organised by the Vicariate is geared towards adequately equipping priests and lay faithful within the Vicariate with the requisite skills in the fight against pandemic.
The event brought together priests, religious sisters, representatives from the parishes and health officers in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District.
Participants were taken through the health protocols and liturgical practices to be observed during this COVID-19 era.
Members of the Disease Control Surveillance and Public Health Directorate gave various presentations on the health protocols and risk communication measures.
Rev. Fr. Philip Desmond Gyapong, liturgist of the Vicariate took the participants through the liturgical norms in this new normal era.
Speaking at the event, the Apostolic Vicar, Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu, SVD, expressed gratitude to the participants for attending the forum and “hoped that participants would go and share what they have learnt from the event”.
Participants also expressed optimism “that when those measures are adhered to, people would be safe in the church and worship God without fear”.
