Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, Catholic Bishop of the Ho Diocese on Sunday confirmed 53 Students of St. Francis College of Education in Hohoe with a call on the confirmandees to use their newly resurrected spiritual selves to win more souls for Christ.

The confirmation forms part of Bishop’s pastoral visits to schools and institutions within the Catholic Diocese of Ho.

Bishop Fianu was the principal celebrant and was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Dennis Kuma Asare, from St. Mary’s Sem. SHS, Lolobi and Rev. Fr.  Pascal Afesi College Chaplain.

Bishop Fianu stated that the reception of the sacrament was  an affirmation of one’s maturity in the faith, as true and worthy witnesses of both the sufferings and glorification of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

He underlined the importance of modern-day Catholics who have received Confirmation doing everything they can to spread the mission

He commended the priests and guardians who had gone to such lengths to prepare the comfirmandees and urged them to continue their good work.

“we also need to appreciate those who teach us the faith and prepare us for the sacraments, for they are the ones who help us to encounter God.”

Bishop Fianu used the occasion to congratulate Dr. Adwoa Kwegyiriba, the new Principal the college for accepting the role and assured her of prayers and support during her tenure.

Dr. Kwagyiriba assured Bishop Fianu of her readiness to continue leading the college in the Catholic tradition which imbibe faith and morals in the trainees.

In a similar development, the Bishop on the first Sunday of Lent administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 16 candidates at the St. Augustine’s Chaplaincy at Ho Technical University.

He also used to opportunity to inspect a parcel of land given to the chaplaincy for a Chapel project.

The Bishop expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, himself a Catholic and his Management for the gesture.
