The Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu SVD,  Catholic Bishop of Ho has urged the parishioners of Christ the King Catholic Church in Ho to reflect on the parish’s previous ten years and to look forward to the future.

Bishop Fianu remarked when He opened the parish’s 10th anniversary celebrations in Ho last Sunday on the theme ; “10 years of living Together as a parish Family; Great things the Lord has done we are glad.”

The day which was also Divine mercy Sunday.
The Divine mercy Sunday was instituted by  St. Pope John Paul II during the canonization of Maria Faustina Kowalska in the year 2000.
The devotion is linked to Jesus  apparition to faustina  Kowalska where Jesus instructed her to paint a picture according to the vision she was seeing. In the picture there were red and white rays which  represent the blood and water which was gushed forth the depth of merciful and agonising heart of Jesus that was open on the cross.

The present Christ the King Parish, Mawuli Estate Ho started in the year 2000, when the Parish Priest of St. Cecilia Parish Ho Dome, Rev. Fr. Richard Affrim instructed Mr. John Nuve a Catechist to list catechumens in Mawuli Estate for Mrs. Clara Bulla to organized Catechesis for them.

Mrs. Bulla, together with Rev. Sis Veronica Commey and Rev Bro. Severinus Asiome Torwoe trained the Catechumens.

Having run the catechesis successfully for a while, the three friends considered the possibility of having a Mass Centre established in the Mawuli Estate.  As a way of testing the viability of the idea of a Mass Center, majority of Catholics in the Estate were brought together to pray the October, Rosary in Bulla’s house. Mr. Godwin Kudiabor, Mr. Gabriel Mangbeli, Carl-Rich and Rev.Bro Emmanuel Osei brought
the idea of establishing a Mass Center and emback on community drive to  convince other Catholics in the Mawuli Estate.

A total of 120 names were complied and presented to the Parish Priest.

Most Rev. Francis Kofi Anani Lodonu Emeritus Bishop of of Ho appointed Rev. Father Edward Sifah, of Blessed memory as the first Priest in-charge of the Mass Centre.

On Sunday the 18th day of November, 2001 after Holly Mass presided over by Rev. Paul Afetor the congregation adopted christ the king as the Patron for the Masd Centre

The Mass Centre was in 2003 handed over to the Congregation of Most Holy Redeemer  ( The Redemptorist) on the arrival of 3 Redemptorist Missionaries Rev. Frs Chrisostomo Ramirez, Juan Batista Christancho and Guillermo Giraldo.

The anniversary will be climaxed in 2023
