Obinna, Catholic Archbishop of Owerri and Metropolitan of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province and His Lordship, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, Bishop of Umuahia Diocese/Apostolic Administrator, Ahiara Diocese as co-consecrators.

Amidst the global unrest, the ceremony had also attracted “ a mammoth crowd of the faithful, both Catholics and non-Catholics, including Catholic bishops from various dioceses in Nigeria”.

The newly ordained Bishop was on May 30, 2020, appointed by the Holy Father as Auxiliary Bishop of the diocese of Umuahia, Nigeria.

We convey to the newly ordained Bishop our hearty congratulations!
Before he entered his mother’s womb, God had known him, consecrated him and appointed him prophet to the nation just like prophet Jeremiah.

In deed. “no one takes this honour upon himself. Every High Priest has been called, just as Aaron was”, in accordance with the author of the letter to the Hebrews.

May the Lord who called him to serve Him in the Church as a priest and further gave him the grace of the High Priesthood, continue to grant him all the graces he need to shepherd the flock entrusted to his care and lead them to perfect and total union with God through Christ Our Lord.
Ad multos annos!
