The Catholic Diocese of Murang’a in Kenya in consonance with its COVID-19 Response initiative subbed “HELP-CDM-2-HELP” chaired by the Vicar General of the Diocese, Very Rev Fr. Charles Kibe dispatched the first batch of donations to the needy in various parts of the diocese and beyond, ADM NEWS can report.
About 300 households received the relief packages f among worth 1900 shillings each with various food items such as rice, wheat flour, sugar among others.
The gesture was also extended to four children’s homes in the diocese and one in Embu diocese.
In Murang’a county, two prison facilities, and one juvenile institution were graced with the donations to help ease the burden of COVID-19.
The Diocese through the initiative- “HELP-CDM-2-HELP aims at reaching about two thousand families that have been affected by the global pandemic.
They further placed a call on the wider community to support the course to ease burdens amidst the global crisis.
“I’m appealing to Christians and people of goodwill to help CDM help those in need, by donating foodstuffs, soaps and sanitizers, face masks and other personal protective equipment, toiletries among others. Donations can be dropped at the Diocesan Secretariat in Murang’a or at Elysian Resort, Kiambu Road”, authorities said.
