Four Sisters of the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer  (HDR), Congregation have celebrated their 25th year of consecrated life in a colorful celebration at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in the Koforidua Diocese.

The ceremony was manned by the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra and the Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, Bishop of the Keta Akatsi Diocese.

Present during the celebration were  Handmaids of the HDR Congregation, Religious, Clergy, the Faithful and well wishers.

Archbishop Kwofie lauded them for their devotion, sacrifices, and distinctive contributions to the Church’s mission in Ghana during the course of their 25 years of consecrated lives.

He urged them to continue serving Mother Church and living the consecrated life in its fullness.

Brief Profile 

Sr. Mary Petrina Mawuena Apetorgbor, HDR

Sr. Mary Petrina Mawuena Apetorgbor, HDR was born on 11th march 1970, to the Late Mr. Edmund Apetorgbor AND Mrs. Alice Apetorgbor.

She  received her first communion on 2ND January 1983 and was confirmed ON 1ST January 1984 , She IS a parishioner at  the holy family parish, Accra.

Sr. Mary entered  the convent on 4TH April 1994 and proceeded to take her first vows  on  23rd march 1997 and her  final vows on 25th march 2004.

After her final vow she started her works of service at Olf Christ the King, Accra and then continued to  St. Theresa school convent, Kaneshie.

From there she proceeded to St. John’s clinic, Ofoase, 1997 – 2007 where she served for 10 years and latter moved to St. Paul’s minor seminary as matron, 2007 – 2017 and our lady of Fatima school, 2007 – 2018.

She is currently working AT St. Pope John Paul Prep. School where she started from 2018.

She holds an N.V.T.I grade 1 and 11 and a diploma in catering.

 

Sr. Mary Rosaline Akpene Wonyuietor Amedeker (HDR)

Sr Mary Rosaline Akpene Wonyuietor Amedeker (HDR) was born on 2ND   OCTOBER 1971 to Mr Christopher Awuku Amedeker (Of Blessed Memory) And   Mrs Georgina Monica Amedeker.

She started her basic education at Mepe R/C primary school and then continued to Methodist school at Ada – Foah , Hwakpo , Tamatoku,

She was later transferred to the Presbyterian middle school and Mepe R/C middle school; this transfer was as a result of series of transfer her Elder Sister had while she was staying with her. She had her secondary at Sogakofe Secondary School (SOGASCO)in the Volta Region.

She completed Community Nursing Training school at Akim Oda from 1999 to 2002.

She received her First communion at SEGE in Ada in 1985 and confirmation at St Martin De Porres Catholic church Mefe in Battor Parish in 986.

She entered the HDR convent on14TH APRIL 1994 at Akwatia and professed her first vows on 23rd March 1997, at the HDR Novitiate and took her final vows on 25TH MARCH 2004 at Christ the King Parish, Cantonments, Accra.

Sr.Mary obtained an MBA  in 2018 from the Catholic University College of Ghana.-Fiapre.

She also holds BSC in Public Health Management from the Catholic University College of Ghana. -Fiapre

She currently works as Sr-in-charge of St Michael Clinic & Maternity Akim-Ntronang where she has worked from 2014 until date.

She worked at St Martin De Porre Hospital Agomanya   From 2012 -2014 And at Catholic Clinic and Maternity, Akim Swedru from 1997-2012.

 

Sr. Mary Louisa Afia Serwa Amakye

 

Sr. Mary Louisa Afia Serwa Amakye was Born on 8th June 1973 to   Mr. Moses Amakye (deceased) and Mrs. Agnes Amakye.

Kumasi from 1979 to 1981. She later moved from Kumasi to Accra where she continued her basic education at  King of Kings preparatory school, Dzorwulu.

She started her early education at Islamic Cratch Prepatory School, Kumasi Bohyen-Abrepo from 1975 -1978and then continued to St. Anthony R/C primary , Bantama Accra from 1982 – 1983 and Glorious Preparatory school, Pig Farm Down, Accra from 1984 – 1986, Kotobabi (1) Middle, 1986 -1989, she then had her middle school education at  Social Advance Institute, Accra where she completed in 1993 and had her secondary education at St. Rose;s SHS, Akwatia,from 1999 -2001

She received her first communion on 25th December 1986 and was confirmed on 3rd September 1989 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Kotobabi her mother Parish.

On 14th April 1994 she entered the Convent at Akwatia Postulancy, and took her first vow on 23rd March 1997 at the HDR Novitiate and took her final vow on25th March 2004 at Christ the King Parish, Cantonments, Accra

Since her final vow, she has worked at the Host/ Sewing room at Mother House, Agomanya, and a Caretaker of the late Bishop Joseph Oliver Bowers, SVD’ 1997 to 1999 at St. Roses School Community, Akwatia’ 1999 to 2001

She continued her works of service at Our Lady of Fatima School Community, Aiyinase- Axim, Ntronang community from 2001 to 2004, Akim Ofoase Community 2004 to 2009, and Our Lady of Fatima community, Agomanya 2009 to 2012, Catholic Hospital, Battor 2012 to 2017

She is currently at St. Dominic Hospital, Akwatia where she has been since 2017.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the Catholic University College, Fiapre-Sunyani.

Sr.  Mary Lucy Dope Yawa Sasu, HDR 

Sr.  Mary Lucy Dope Yawa Sasu, HDR was born on 10th October 1973 to Mrs. Lucia kokoe Armah Sasu and Mr. Robert Lossavi Kwame Sasu (Deceased).

She had her primary education at St. Mary’s Girls’, Korle Gonno, and Institute of Divine Education at Chorkor high street and completed in 1987, she then continued to O’reilly secondary school then at Adabraka, Accra and completed in 1993 for her secondary education.

She received her first Holy Communion in June 1985 and confirmation, same year in September 1985 at Sacred Heart Parish, Derby Avenue, Accra.

She entered the Convent on 14TH April 1994 at HDR Postulancy, Akwatia and took her first Vows on 23rd March 1997 at the HDR Novitiate, Koforidua and latter professed her final Vows on 25th March 2004 at the Christ the King Catholic Church, Cantonments, Accra

In  2018, she obtained a Masters in Educational Leadership and Management from  University of Ghana Legon, and also holds Post Diploma Degree in Basic Education, French/English from the University of Cape Coast which she obtained in 2015 and in 2012 obtained a diploma in Basic Education from UCC. She also attended Mount Mary College of Education and obtained a Post-Secondary Teachers Certificate in 2001.

She currently renders her services to Mary Mother of Good Counsel School, where she has been from 2015.  Sr. Lucy also served at Akim Swedru St. Agatha R/C Girls Junior High from 2007 to 2015 and Akwatia St. Dominic R/C Junior High, 2004 to 2007.
