The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has commended the Catholic Church in Ghana for offering some of its health facilities to the government as isolation centres.

The President in his 12th address to the nation on Sunday June 21, 2020, thanked “the Catholic Bishops’ Conference for agreeing to the use of their facilities across the country as isolation centres in the fight against COVID-19”

Earlier Development

The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), in the infancy stage of June gave out 13 of its health facilities across the country to the government of Ghana to be used as COVID-19 isolation centres.

Prior to that, the church in Ghana had also. through the Bishops’ Conference donated an amount of GH¢70,000 to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund put up by the government of Ghana to battle the global pandemic.
