Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, the Central Regional Minister is entreating all relevant stakeholders to make a concerted effort to support government’s vision of ensuring that children of schoolgoing age are not left behind, especially the girl child.
She made the appeal at the 75th Anniversary celebration of Holy Child School in Cape Coast held on the theme “75 years of Female Education: Its impact on National Development.”
This, she said, would nurture human capital for national development and most importantly, empower women to transform the world, adding that the quest for accelerated development must be championed by all stakeholders.
“Educating the girl child has a far-reaching effect on sustainable development, breaking of the poverty cycle, improving upon the quality of life, and aids economic growth and development”, she stated.
She further commended the school for its enormous contribution towards National Development in times past stressing that “she was delighted to witness the immense contributions of past students towards the rapid growth of the school”.
HOLY CHILD SCHOOL ( also known as Angel’s Hill) @ 75
The School marked its 75th anniversary on Saturday, 5th June 2021 on the theme “75 years of Female Education: Its impact on National Development.”
The occasion was graced by clergymen including The Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast, Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle and the Emeritus Archbishop of Cape Coast, Most Rev. Matthias Kobina Nketiah, past students, and hosts of dignitaries.
Holy Child School is a female second-cycle institution under the tutelage of the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast, Ghana.
It was founded in 1946 by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ) to provide education to Catholics within, the region which has presently translated into absorbing students from all sections.
The School has chalked success in previous years, including being ranked among the best 100 schools in Africa in 2003.
It also produced the best overall female student in the 2003 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE).
