The Servants of the Holy Spirit Sisters (SSpS) has marked their 75 years of existence in Ghana.

The Launching and Fundraising ceremony in aid of a school complex was held at St. Margaret Mary Parish, Dansoman during both Masses. Present at the celebration was the provincial and his vice of the SVDs, Very rev. Fr. John Luis, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Accra, Rev. Fr. John Prempeh, SVD parish priest of Margaret Mary Parish, and his assistant Fr. Courage and other SVDs who con-celebrated.

In their homilist, they encouraged the people of God to be joyful though times are hard for Ghanaians.

Those in authority were advice to use their power with compassion and love over those they are leading by not collecting more than the amount prescribed, paying what is due to their workers, talking to them with respect and giving them a listing ear.

 

“There is no point being anxious about anything when you have the opportunity to talk to Jesus. He hears and answers prayers. It does not matter the size of the problem that is causing anxiety in you. Simply talk to him and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts”.  he assured.

Provincial Leader of Ghana, Rev. Sr. Mercy Benson, SSpS in a brief read about SSpS activities in Ghana since their arrival on February 20, 1946.

“We started the basic school and then later added the SHS. As part of their success story, they also started St. Theresa’s school, Kanshi, Christ the King International School, Cantonment, Holy Family Hospital and School, Koforidua, Madonna school, Koforidua, Holy Spirit School, Sunyani, Holy Spirit Clinic now Hospital, Wiaga, St. Mary’s Vocational Institute, Adeemmra”, She stated

 

She added that as part of the mission of the SSpS, to give quality education to all including the less privilege in society, they want to serve the people of Donkorkrom with a complex school. and thus called on the catholic community across the country to help out.

“Our arms are opened to anyone who will wish to donate for the building of the school,” she added

A pull-up was unveiled to officially launch the 75thanniversary of the SSpS which will be celebrated from now till next year December. It was unveiled by Fr. Cyprian, Fr. Luis, Fr. Andy, Sr. Mercy, Sr. Lamisi and some of the SSpSsisters.
