Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Coast, admonished Africans to protect and care for the African continent as it surfaces as God’s greatest gift to humanity.
The Ghanaian Prelate said Africans were blessed to have a setting that provided them with the needed natural resources in abundance and the rich cultural heritage that puts the continent on the map and urged all indigenes to play their respective roles in developing the continent.
Archbishop Palmer-Buckle said this in an interview with Agnus-Dei Media giving his New year message to the Catholic and wider community.
“Africa is God’s gift to humanity and we must cherish being Africans and do the best for ourselves and our culture and contribute our bit to the greater good of all humanity”.
SERVICE TO NATION
The Prelate also encouraged Ghanaians to give what he describes as “their golden best” to propel the nation.
Expounding on this , he said Ghanaians should be ready to sacrifice for the greater good of the nation and “for our brothers and sisters who need our love and help in service to the nation”.
He added that Ghana is a beautiful country with great hope for better development and called for effective management of “our forest resources and the rest and leave something for posterity”.
COVID-19
Speaking On the global pandemic the world continues to battle, he emphasized that the spelt out health protocols should be taken seriously given the violent sting the second wave of the virus carries.
“In the face of Covid-19, I’ll entreat Ghanaians, let us observe the heath protocols religiously- washing hands, wearing facemasks, social distancing because Covid-19 is real and it is even now getting more violent”, he counselled
In the thick of the rising uncertainties in the world, Archbishop Palmer-Buckle charged that all must seek to know the will of God for 2021 and live according to it.
Bringing his message of hope to a denouement, the Prelate said “I think 2021 will be a better year than 2020”.
