Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Cyprian Kuupol, was on Monday, June 1, 2020, installed as the new Provincial Superior of Ghana – Liberia Province of the Society of Divine Word (S.V.D.)

The new Provincial Superior was appointed by the Superior General of the Divine Word (SVD), Rome, for the 2020 –2023 triennium.

His outfit comprises Fr. Andrews Obeng, SVD, who will work in the capacity of the Vice -Provincial, Bro. Charles Ashun as the Admonitor, Frs. JoJo Monoth and Marek Dabrowski as Councilors.

Rev. Fr. Cyprian Kuupol comes from Fielmuo in the Wa Diocese of the Upper West Region of Ghana. He was born to Mr. Iraneus Aasonaa Kuupol and Mrs. Rosina Damyang Kuupol, both of Blessed Memory. He studied Philosophy at St. Victor’s Major Seminary in Tamale, Ghana.

He further holds the following academic laurels: a Certificate in Community and Pastoral Leadership from the Institute of St. Anselm Kent in England, a Diploma in Social Communication and Theology from Tangaza College in Nairobi, Kenya as well as a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Kenya.

He professed his final vows in 2002 in Nairobi, Kenya, and was ordained Priest at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Koforidua, Ghana on July 26, 2003, by Most Rev. Dominic Andoh, the then Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Accra. After his ordination, he was appointed Assistant Parish Priest of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Koforidua, Ghana.

Thereafter, he was appointed the Paeses at Freinademetz House in Tamale and was later appointed Formator of the SVD Common Formation Centre also in Tamale. Currently, Rev. Fr. Cyprian Kuupol holds a Doctorate Degree in Sacred Liturgy (SLD) from the Pontifical Institute of Liturgy in Rome, Italy.

Until his appointment as Provincial Superior, Rev. Fr. Kuupol was the Rector of the Common Formation Centre and a lecturer at the St. Victor’s Major Seminary in Tamale. In furtherance to the above, he served in many committees, notable among them was he serving as Chairman of the Liturgy Committee to the Climax Celebration of the Servant of God, Peter Cardinal Poreku Dery’s Birth Centenary in 2019.
