Ada Aniwetalu, a physically challenged girl, has brought good fortunes to her family as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Archbishop Valerian Okeke, today Tuesday, September 8, 2020, handed over to the girl a bungalow, reports Alexander Johnson Adejoh of Fides Media.
Archbishop Okeke disclosed that the apartment which was well furnished was a part of the church’s commitment towards charity and the need to uplift the burden faced by people especially in this pandemic.
‘The unfortunate situation of Ada was brought to my attention by a Reverend Sister and seeing her (Ada) ability in her disability, being able to write and perform tasks with her toes, i resolved to help her achieve her life’s goals.
‘She is placed on a fully-paid scholarship together with her friend (her helper).
‘In addition, she have been provided with a living apartment conducive for her personal development and studies,’ the Archbishop said.
The clergy also noted that he brought the plight of the girl and the proposed project to the attention of some individuals who contributed the money with which the project was realized in record time.
In thanksgiving, the Shepherd of the Catholic Province of Onitsha lauded everyone who made contributions towards the prompt completion of the house particularly he noted that he was appreciative of the support from Senator Victor Umeh, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, Sir Ikem Osanakpo KSG, Sir Evaristus Ubah KSJI among others.
However, Fides gathered that Miss Aniwetalu, the physically challenged girl was born without both arms in Umuazu, Nteje community, Oyi LGA of Anambra state.
